Saltwater fish Bicolor Blenny

TheBicolor Blenny (Ecsenius bicolor)is also known as the Two-colored Blenny. The Bicolor is so-namedbecausethe anterior half is blue to dull brown, and the posterior half isdullorange. Males are generally larger than females and experience asuccession ofcolor changes, including blue, when breeding. These Blennies exhibit great personality in the aquarium.
Generally foundamid crevices and rocks on thebottom of its environment, the BicolorBlenny needs a tank of at least 30 gallons withscattered rocks forperching and hiding. Opinions are mixed as to whether theBicolor Blennyis a peaceful tank member and safe for invertebrates. Somebelieve theBicolor Blenny is not safe with other species members and may pickongobies and firefish. Others say the Bicolor Blenny is a peacefulcommunityfish. Some say the Bicolor Blenny is safe around invertebratesand othersources say it will eat them. The best alternative is probably to combine thesegroups cautiously.
Thediet of the Bicolor Blenny should include vegetable matter, includingfrozen and dried foods containing marine and blue-green algae. It will alsofeed on (and help control) algae growing in the aquarium.
